MUNCIE, INDIANA - An unmarked Muncie Police Department car was found Sunday morning wrecked on Cardinal Greenway just north of Centennial Avenue.

Deputy Chief Jim Peters said "kids" were most likely responsible for stealing the car, which was being stored on Granville Avenue. Peters said about 10 cars were there waiting to be sold in the Oct. 4 city surplus auction.

Peters said the subjects vandalized the other vehicles before finding the keys to the one they stole.

According to police reports, the car entered the greenway from Centennial Avenue and traveled northwest before running off the east side of the path.

Peters said he was unsure of the extent of the damage done to the greenway. The culprits fled the scene, and Peters said police had no suspects as of Sunday night.
