Police said a driver who led officers on a chase in a stolen police car was taken to a hospital after crashing early Saturday.

Investigators said Moore officers were trying to arrest Adam Barr in connection with a burglary. Even though officers had used a Taser and handcuffs on him and put him in the back seat of a police vehicle, Barr was able to work his way up front and drive away, police said.

"The suspect got the cuffs around front, got in the front seat and took the patrol car," said Jeremy Lewis of the Moore Police Department.

Police said Barr crashed the vehicle into a tree about 10 minutes later near Southwest 44th Street and Blackwelder Avenue.

"This is definitely not an everyday occurrence for us," said Lewis. "This is usually several stories all tied into one."
