(Norman) -- Norman police found themselves having to finish a job begun by the
Moore Police Department.
The incident began Tuesday evening when Moore police stopped 49-year-old John
Lewis on a traffic complaint.
After discovering Lewis was driving with a suspended license, the officer on
scene handcuffed Lewis and placed him in the back of his cruiser.
But as he was questioning a woman in Lewis' vehicle, Lewis managed to
squeeze through the partition separating the back seat from the front, and drove
off in the squad car.
The missing cruiser was found later with it lights flashing.
Lewis was discovered, still handcuffed, in the back yard of his home in
Norman.
He now faces additional charges of escape from lawful custody and
unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
