A man stole a police car in Dollard des Ormeaux Saturday while officers were arresting him for a driving infraction around 4 p.m. on the corner of Sources Blvd. and Roger Pilon St. "At the time of the intervention (the police) made the man sit in the back of the police vehicle and at another moment, the suspect found himself at the wheel of the police vehicle," said Constable Danny Richer. Police do not yet know how the man was able to drive off with their car.

One of the police officers got into a taxi but couldn't catch up with the suspect as he was driving at high speed, said Constable Richer. Thanks to their new GPS system, police were eventually able to locate the vehicle. The suspect drove the police car for about 10 minutes before he abandoned it at the corner of Hyman and Angora Sts. and ran off. The suspect is a 33-year-old white man known to police.
