MONMOUTH, Ore. -- A Monmouth man stole a police patrol car and led officers
on a chase through town Tuesday, police said.
Authorities said Keoki Rosimo, 19, revved the engine and took off in an
officer's patrol car after the officer had gotten out of the car during a
traffic stop.
Rosimo led police on a chase to the south side of the city, hitting a few parked
cars near Ackerman Street and Monmouth Avenue along the way, officers said.
The chase ended on Griffin Drive, where police said Rosimo resisted
arrest. Officers said they used a Taser gun to take Rosimo into custody.
Rosimo had no connection to the initial traffic stop, officers said.
Police said the stolen patrol car was damaged and it's unknown how much it
will cost for repairs. The car is one of seven patrol cars in Monmouth's fleet.
Rosimo is expected to be booked into jail on charges of unlawful use of a motor
vehicle, driving under the influence, reckless driving, hit-and-run, eluding
police and resisting arrest.
