Minden, LA - Police Officer Shot Twice - Suspect Steals Police Car - Crashes - Suspect Shot Dead
An early morning shooting in Webster Parish leaves one man dead and a
police officer wounded. It all started when Minden Police received a phone
call from a man saying 45- year old Kenneth Trice Jr. was trying to kill him.
Moments later, police say Trice walked over to another house where he demanded
his relatives, who were inside the home, to give him their car. When they
resisted, he shot a hole in the ceiling.
After taking the vehicle, Trice led Minden Police on a chase down Highway 80
into Dixie Inn.
When Trice stopped, he got out of the vehicle and began shooting at officers
striking one in the leg and arm.
Minden Police Chief T.C. Bloxom says Trice then jumped into the officers'
patrol car.
After driving a couple 100 yards he ran into a ditch and crashed into two
trees.
Bloxom says sometime during the commotion Trice was shot and killed.
The chief is pleased with the way his officers handled the situation.
Both the officers are on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the
investigation.
The officer who was shot has been released from the hospital and is at home
recovering.
Trice had been arrested a total of 9 times... Three of those were felony
charges.
