A Cincinnati man is currently being held at the Middletown Jail after a domestic dispute leads to a high speed chase in a stolen police cruiser Saturday night.
A short time after 11:30pm Middletown Police were called to the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue for a domestic dispute. Police discovered that a black male had broken into the residence and was stabbed in the shoulder by a female who lived there. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
A short time after 1:00am, officer received information that the suspect was hiding in the wood line in the 1800 block of Minnesota Street. Officer Tim Meehan and his K-9 Viper went to the scene and ordered the suspect to come out. The suspect refused and Officer Meehan released Viper. The suspect then fought with the dog and ran towards Meehan's cruiser. He got into the cruiser and drove south on Minnesota Street.
Other Middletown officers caught up with the suspect and a chase was initiated at intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Route 4. The chase continued south on Route 4 with speeds reaching 100 mph.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officers help with the chase and set out stop sticks in the area. The suspect struck the stop sticks, blew two tires, crossed the median and went into a ditch on front of Butler Tech Academy.
After the crash, the suspect struggled with officers and injured two of them. Officers Gary Bender suffered minor facial injuries and Butler County Sheriff's Deputy Watson suffered a possible broken nose and hand.
The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Robert Seymour. He was taken to Atrium Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Seymour was transported to Middletown Jail where he is charged with felony domestic violence, violation of protection order, assault on a police officer, grand theft auto, resisting arrest, felony eluding a police officer, failure to yield, speeding and reckless operation.
