Pike County Officers Arrest Man Who Stole Deputy’s Patrol Car, Wearing Handcuffs

Charles Clary’s choice of escape vehicles means he’s got a bigger headache than a "Driving Under The Influence" charge, authorities say.
Clary was sitting in a deputy’s patrol car Friday awaiting a ride to the Pike County Jail when he managed to get behind the wheel and drive off, Sheriff Mark Shepherd said.
Shepherd said Clary was able to slip his handcuffs to the front of his body and squeeze into the front seat after removing a panel from between the seats.
The abandoned patrol car was discovered on a county road several miles east of McComb.
Clary was arrested later Friday at a house in the Friendship community – still wearing handcuffs.
