Manchester, NH -- A woman who led police on a chase in a stolen cruiser
in Wilton NH is pleading guilty to several charges.
Donna Calvert, 42, was a Hillsborough County jail inmate two years ago
when she allegedly pretended to get sick in a sheriff deputy's car then
stole the car when he pulled over and got out to help her.
The chase ended when she crashed in four other cars and a snow bank in
Amherst, NH.
Calvert was supposed to go to trial next week, but instead, plans to plead
guilty Monday to assault, reckless conduct and drunken driving. The plea
bargain calls for her to spend seven to 14 years in prison, but her lawyers
are expected to ask for a shorter sentence.
Had the case gone to trial, Calvert planned to argue that she was having
a severe panic attack at the time.
