Brandon Knight Polley, 28, is facing multiple charges, including first degree burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and first degree unlawful imprisonment.
According to the sheriff’s office, Polley had been arrested last week on burglary charges.
Thursday afternoon, after he was taken to a location where he claimed he had dumped stolen items, a deputy opened the cruiser’s slide window to speak to him.
When the deputy left the vehicle to look for something Polley said was on the side of the road, Polley climbed through the partition and drove off.
Authorities say he later held a man hostage for around an hour before an emergency response team and negotiators from the Madisonville Police Department resolved the situation without incident.
