Stolen patrol car recovered after chase

LUCERNE VALLEY • A man stole a sheriff’s patrol car and led officials on
an hour-long chase before being stopped by a spike strip, according to initial
reports.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s patrol car was first reported stolen from
the Lucerne Valley sub-station at around 8 a.m., according to scanner traffic.
Officials had to use a spike strip to stop the vehicle near the Mitsubishi
Cement Plant, according to initial reports.
Reports show the unidentified man was taken into custody at 9 a.m.
Information on how the man was able to steal the patrol car was not
immediately released.
