LUCEDALE, Miss. - Authorities on Tuesday searched for a drug suspectd who allegedly fled from a traffic stop in a state trooper's vehicle.
The car was found in rural George County Monday, about an hour after it was stolen during a traffic stop, said Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Gazzo.
The incident happened after the suspect, identified as Aleshia Dubose, no age or address available, was pulled over for speeding on Mississippi 63, Gazzo said.
Trooper Juanita West and George County Deputy Brenda Cowart found crystal methamphetamine in Dubose's possession, Gazzo said.
The officers arrested and handcuffed Dubose, then placed her in the back of West’s vehicle. Gazzo said Dubose drove off in the troopers vehicle while the officers were searching Dubose's car for more drugs.
He said the car was undamaged and believed nothing was missing when authorities found it. He said the investigation is continuing.
