Louisville Stolen Police Cruiser Recovered
(LOUISVILLE, August 25th, 2002, 5 p.m.) -- Louisville police
ended up chasing one of their own cruisers Monday afternoon.
Officers caught up with it in Iroquois Park after the suspect
drove the car in to the woods.
It all started when police tried to arrest Juan Rodriguez. He
took off running, and when Officer Todd Hale got out of his
car to try and catch him, Rodriguez got behind the wheel.
The department doesn't have rules about this kind of situation.
"It really doesn't have anything to do with policy," said
Louisville police spokesman Bill Keeling. "You are responsible
for your equipment at all times, regardless of what you are
in the midst of doing."
Rodriguez is facing a long list of charges, including theft
and wanton endangerment.
