Pursuit of stolen Logan County cruiser ends in three car crash
Found on 10/18/02 - Union County and Marysville, Ohio
An unidentified black male driving a stolen Logan County
Sheriff's cruiser raced through part of Union County and
the north part of Marysville shortly before noon today.
His flight ended when he smashed into two cars near
McDonalds.
The chase began after a traffic stop near U.S. 33 and
route 347 in Logan County where scanner traffic reported
that shots were fired. The man stole Logan cruiser #29 and
headed east on U.S. 33, at times driving well in excess of
100 mph. He exited the highway at Route 4 north of Marysville,
drove into town at a high rate of speed and turned east on
Fourth Street, pursued by at least a dozen sheriff and police
cruisers.
After turning south on Cherry Street, he headed east on
Delaware Avenue and was shortly involved in the accident
which injured two men in two cars. The Jerome Township squad
had been called to assist Marysville EMTs in treating the injured
who were then taken to the emergency room at Memorial
Hospital of Union County.
The unidentified man was taken into custody by Logan County
sheriff's deputies at the accident site.
