Las Vegas Metro Police Car Stolen - Crashed Head On Into Second Police Car

Dec 2, 2005

What started off as a minor accident ended with a stolen police unit and head on collision Thursday night.

The bizarre incident only lasted a few minutes. It all started in front of Arizona Charlies on South Decatur near Charleston as a man rolled a stolen car over.  That's when Security Guards at the Arizona Charlies witnessed one of the drivers trying to flee the scene.

Around 9:40 p.m. eyewitnesses say that man started making motions, as if he had a gun. When police arrived the suspect followed their commands and laid face down on the ground. But when an officer tried to take him into custody the suspect jumped up and ran through a neighborhood. He then got into a police car, took off into oncoming traffic where he hit another police cruiser head on.

That's when the officer in that vehicle was able to chase the suspect down on foot and take him into custody. The suspect will face a number of charges including battery of an officer with a deadly weapon and two counts of auto grand larceny.
