Lansing man charged in stabbing spree with stolen police car

A 27-year-old Lansing man who police say stabbed four people in Delta
Township and led police on a chase in a stolen police car was charged 
Monday with four counts of attempted murder.

John Lalley also was charged with two counts of carjacking, one 
count of resisting arrest and one count of fleeing and eluding a police 
officer, Eaton County prosecutors said.

Lalley, who was arraigned Monday in front of Charlotte District Judge 
Paul Berger, being held in the Eaton County Jail on a $500,000 cash
bond.

Lalley is accused of stabbing the people with scissors and trying to 
steal several cars at Saginaw Highway and Elmwood Road near the 
Lansing Mall on Thursday. Eaton County sheriff's deputies say that after  
they arrested him, he was able to maneuver his handcuffs in front of him, 
lower the screen that separated the front seat and back seat of the 
police car and drive it away.
