LANETT, Ala. (AP) — A Chambers County sheriff's deputy and a suspect involved in a shooting are undergoing treatment for their injuries.

According to Lanett Police Chief Teddy Morris, the shooting occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Lanett in east Alabama.

The sheriff's department responded to a call regarding a person threatening a family member with a firearm on County Road 180.

Once deputies arrived, the person was gone and headed toward 23rd Street in Lanett. When officers arrived on the second scene the suspect shot and hit one of the deputies, who was taken to George H. Lanier Hospital.

The officer's name was not released.

Officers found the suspect in a barn on 23rd Street and the suspect fired shots at officers. The suspect then got into a sheriff's car, found the spare keys and drove toward officers. Officers then fired shots at the suspect, who got out of the car and was taken into custody.

Three other officers with injuries are also being treated. The Alabama Bureau of Investigations is looking into the shooting.
