Dec. 2, 2003
KANSAS CITY, MO - A thief stole a Kansas City police officer's squad car Tuesday.
The officer answered a call shortly before 4 p.m. to break up a fight between two 12 years olds at East 33rd Street and Highland Avenue, and someone took off with the patrol car.
Police found the car about five minutes later and four blocks away.
Nothing was missing, except for the car thief.
Police said a group of a dozen teens were gathered around the officer as she tried to break up the fight. During the scuffle, her keys fell out of her pocket.
