A Mexican resident was arrested last night after stealing a Jerome Police Department patrol car.
38-year old Guadaloupe Cruz Vasquez appeared at
the Jerome County Sheriffs Office yesterday and
requested they transport him to Mexico. When
they refused, Vasquez then
walked two blocks to the Jerome Police
Department, allegedly threw a rock through a
patrol car window then drove away.
Vasquez was located at around 7:45 last night,
an hour after he allegedly took the vehicle just
outside the town of Carey when the vehicle ran
out of gas. He has been booked into the Jerome
County Jail on four counts of grand theft, one
count of burglary and one count of possession of
a stolen vehicle. Vasquez is a Mexican national
but here in the U.S. on a legal work visa.
