Unmarked Jefferson County, Texas Patrol Car stolen and damaged by 16 year old prisoner
( Found on: 1/19/2005 )

Hometown News has learned Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies have pulled over a stolen Sheriff’s car. We have learned a 16-year-old boy was being arrested on an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle warrant out of Nacogdoches Tuesday morning near Delaware and Eastex. He was handcuffed and placed in the back of an unmarked patrol car.

Jefferson County Investigators tell us the teen’s small frame allowed him to get his cuffed hands under his feet and in front of his body. He then started the unmarked unit and drove off.

Officials tell us Sour Lake police officers spotted the stolen vehicle and called in Hardin County to assist in the pursuit. Speeds in excess of 110 miles an hour were reportedly reached.

Officers deployed spike strips near Highway 69 and Highway 327 just south of Kountze which caused the car to wreck out in a ditch. The driver of the car has been arrested.
