Jefferson Co., TX - Suspect Steals Jefferson Co. Police SUV  To Trade For Drugs - M-16 Rifle Still Missing - Police SUV Set On Fire

 

 

Jefferson County Sheriff Deputies continue to search for missing M-16 Rifle

 
The search continues for a Jefferson County Sheriff Deputy's M-16 rifle that has been missing since Saturday morning. The deputies unmarked Patrol SUV was stolen and completely destroyed after someone set it on fire.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Ron Hobbs says the Deputy left the car running at Lamar University while he went inside one of the offices.

Deputies were able to trackdown the SUV using a GPS Navigation System. It was located in the 1500 block of West 11th street in Port Arthur. There are still burn marks on the ground from where it was set on fire.

When deputies arrived they spotted a car leaving the scene, two men were taken into custody. One had burns to his hands and wrist.

Hobbs say one man has admitted to steeling the SUV and trading it with the other suspect for drugs.
