Mary Bristow, 20, was arrested after leading police on a car chase in a stolen police cruiser Friday, said Jackson Police Chief Scott Morrison.
Police arrested Mary and her brother David Bristow after they saw their car pull into a strip mall around 11:50 p.m. When the officers approached the car, they found a gun on the car floor. Morrison said the gun ended up being a pellet gun.
While David is suspected of faking a medical emergency, Mary managed to slip her handcuffs under her legs to the front, roll down the window of the patrol car and slide through, Morrison said. Mary then got into the driver's seat and drove away.
Mary then lead police on a chase southbound on Highway 49, said Morrison. In Calaveras County, Mary drove over a spike strip, but kept driving.
Officers later rammed the car into an embankment and arrested the 20-year-old.
Morrison said Mary was taunting police over the radio during the chase.
David was arrested for being under the influence of drugs, and possession of pot and hashish.
