Investigators tell FOX 24 News a patrol deputy was investigating a report of a stolen car.

As the female driver was being placed in the patrol car, the male passenger is accused of getting into the driver seat and trying to flee the scene.

Investigators say after the 19-year old wrecked the vehicle, he fired shots at the deputy...who returned fire, but no one was injured.

After a foot chase, the suspect was captured on Silver Circle in Warner Robins and taken into custody.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office turned the investigation of the incident over to the GBI

Craig Rotter/Georgia Bureau of Investigation:

"One of the suspects came out of the vehicle and started firing shots at the deputy and the deputy returned fire and the two suspects taken into custody...nobody was hit from the gunfire."

Authorities are not releasing names at this time, but say the male suspect did have a warrant for burglary out on him.
