HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Police have arrested a man they say
used a stolen unmarked police car to carjack a woman in
Hollywood, but two other suspects got away.
Hollywood police, working with the Miami-Dade Police

Department, arrested Jermaine Antwain Shaw (pictured)
for a carjacking that happened Thursday afternoon at
North 67 Avenue and Lee Street.
Police say that Shaw and two other suspects used
the flashing light on the dashboard of the stolen
car to pull over a woman who was driving a 2000
Excursion. The woman says that the stolen car
pulled up next to her when she stopped, and Shaw
got out of the car carrying a handgun. The woman says
that she told Shaw that she had children in the SUV. He
let her take the children out of the car, but the woman
says as she and the two children stood beside the vehicle,
Shaw held the handgun on them and the other two suspects
repeatedly told Shaw to shoot and kill them.
"They came to Miami with the sole purpose of carjacking
a person and vehicle," Lt. Tony Rode said. "She not only
pleaded for her life, but for the life of her three children
sitting in the back seat."
Shaw jumped into the Excursion and took off, and the other
two men left in the police car. Shortly after, police saw
both vehicles, but when detectives approached, all the suspects
bailed out and took off. Officers caught Shaw and recovered
both vehicles, but were unable to stop the other suspects.
They are continuing to look for the two men. If you have any
information about this crime or the whereabouts of the men,
you are asked to call Broward County Crimestoppers at (954)
493-TIPS, or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
