A wrong-way driver in Hicksville early Monday morning fought with officers, stole a police car and led authorities on a high-speed chase to Oyster Bay -- which ended with the man being shot, Nassau County police said.

Brandon Pasker, 21, of Hempstead, was driving his 2010 Chevy in the wrong lane on Route 106-107 in Hicksville when officers tried to stop him at 1 a.m. Monday. Pasker refused and struck a 2001 Acura on Jericho Turnpike in Jericho, injuring two passengers, police said.

Pasker then exited his car and started fighting with officers, and according to cops, attempted to gain control of the police car in the altercation. Another officer arrived at the scene, but Pasker commandeered the police car and headed northbound.

Second Precinct officers in Muttontown spotted the vehicle a short time later and followed it to Teddy Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay. There, they were able to stop the vehicle.

But as officers approached, Pasker reversed at a high rate of speed, then changed direction again and tried to run down the officers, who opened fire, police said.

Pasker was wounded in the exchange. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and Pasker was placed into custody.

Three police officers were sent to a local hospital and treated and released. Two people in the Acura were hospitalized for minor injuries, while Pasker was also admitted with non life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Charges are pending and Pasker will be arraigned as soon as practical, police said.
