An unmarked police car with a gun in the trunk was stolen from a bar parking
lot this morning while the officer was on security detail inside the bar,
authorities said.
Around 4 a.m., Officer Manuel Montalvo found shattered glass next to the spot
where he had parked his gold Ford Taurus outside Flanigan's Seafood Bar and
Grill at 1550 West 84th St., police said.
A pistol, and possibly a rifle, were inside the trunk, Hialeah police
spokesman Det. Carl Zogby said. Also inside was a black police raid jacket, he
said.
Police think the person who stole the car knew it belonged to a police
officer.
"Who know what the reasons are? It could have been an initiation, a dare, a
vendetta," Zogby said. "It could be anything."
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Hialeah
Police Department at 305-687-2525
