HANAHAN, S.C. - Police in Hanahan, S.C., were not amused when a man
arrested for shoplifting wriggled through the glass partition in a police
cruiser and drove off.
The suspect abandoned the car for a lawn service truck before he was
eventually caught.
As Police Chief Don Wilcox put it: "People who are under arrest are like
rats or mice ... Give them a little hole, and they can get through it."
The incident is under review. The suspect is charged with shoplifting, assault
and stealing a police car.
