Regional Canadian Police Commander's Cruiser stolen while left running
Oct. 31, 2005 By BRETT CLARKSON, TORONTO SUN Halton police hope that the guy who stole an unmarked police cruiser apparently left running outside a Burlington curling rink -- will be sitting in its backseat soon instead of driving it. A 2004 grey Chevy Impala belonging to Halton Regional Police was stolen early Saturday afternoon from a parking lot in the New St. and Guelph Line area of Burlington, Staff-Sgt. Dave McCartney said yesterday. "The incident is still under investigation," McCartney said. "I don't know what happened (exactly). It's being worked on. "It's been assigned to a team of detectives who are now working on the file." McCartney couldn't say what circumstances led to the car being taken, or how the car was stolen. He also couldn't say whether or not the car had any police equipment. Radio reports said the vehicle belonged to a high-ranking officer who had left it running while he went into a curling rink. McCartney said he did know the car's license plate: AWXX 092. |
