Alabama Teen Accused of Stealing Police Car- Gun and Bullet
Proof Vest Still Missing
The Associated Press
A 17-year-old charged with stealing a drug agent's 2004 Chevrolet Impala
told investigators he did not realize he had stolen police property, but ditched
it in Guntersville soon after he found
out. Jonathan Horton, the agent whose car was stolen, said the teen
from the Gallant community is in custody at the Coosa Valley Detention Center.
The unmarked car, which was stolen from a detached garage at Horton's house,
is equipped with lights and sirens. But Horton said the lights are not
visible from outside the car.
He said there were two guns and a bulletproof vest among items in the car.
One of the guns was recovered, but Horton said a 9mm handgun and the bulletproof
vest have not been found.
Horton said the car was found behind a closed-down service station on Nov. 7. He
said the teen has been charged with theft for the car and the guns inside it.
