An accused car thief was jailed Thursday for stealing a police cruiser Wednesday night, and police say he didn't just steal the car, he taunted officers over the radio.

The suspect, Jerome Lewis, stole the only police car in Gilmore, Arkansas, a small town in Crittenden County.

Chief Darryn Richardson of the Gilmore Police Department said it started with a call about an attempted rape. "I went into the house to see about the girl, and when I came out, my car was gone," he said.

Richardson said Lewis hit several cars, ramming one of them into a house. During the chase Gilmore Police recorded radio transmissions between pursuing officers and Lewis, who was behind the wheel of the cruiser. Lewis played rap music over the police radio, and was heard saying, "I've got your car."

Police finally caught up with Lewis and took him into custody. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
