EL PASO, TX -- Reports of shots being fired in Northeast El Paso early Friday morning led police to search for a suspect -- and a stolen police car. The incident started around 3 a.m. as police were called out to the Bangkok Lounge, along the 4800 block of Dyer.
After they arrived, officers saw a man get into the police vehicle and drive off , only to abandon it at McKelligon Canyon. Two crime units and a police helicopter combed over the rugged terrain. Authorities eventually located the vehicle at the bottom of a ravine, but found no suspect.
Police haven't confirmed if the man who stole the car was the same person who fired gunshots at the earlier disturbance on Dyer St.
