50-Year-Old Police Cruiser Stolen, Crashed in Durham

The Durham Regional Police Association’s 1953 black Chevrolet police cruiser, used for special events, was stolen from a business in Port Perry and later crashed in Greenbank.
Officers were dispatched to the corner of Couves Lane and Highway 12 in Greenbank where the Chevrolet had crashed through a fence and slammed into a garage. When police arrived, they noticed that the vehicle was the Association’s cruiser. No one was observed in the area of the crash.
The cruiser had been brought to an automotive shop at the Reach Industrial Park in Port Perry and was stolen from the lot. The damage to the cruiser is estimated at $5,000.
