Dekalb Co., GA - Handcuffed Suspect Steals Dekalb Police Car From Traffic Stop - Hits Officer With Patrol Car - Found 2 Hrs Later By K-9

DeKalb police said a man stole a police car after he was arrested at a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

It happened at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Rays Road around 1:15 a.m.

Police said the suspect was detained for providing false information. The suspect was handcuffed and put into the police car.

Police said the suspect climbed through the partisan and stole the police car, while the officer went to go look at the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect drove the police car about a mile a away to the Value Village Shopping Center parking lot and fled the area. An officer was bumped by the police car as the suspect drove away, according to police. The officer was not seriously injured.

Police said they found the suspect in the woods behind an apartment complex on Hambrick Road. The suspect was still in handcuffs.

DeKalb police said the suspect faces several charges, including robbery and felony obstruction.
