Decatur, AL - Burglary Suspect Being Arrested Scuffles With Police Officer - Tries to Steal Cruiser

What appeared to be a routine burglary arrest in Decatur escalated to something a bit more dramatic on Tuesday.

According to Decatur Police report, 52 year old Ronnie Hagood was spotted acting suspiciously outside a Pier 1 furniture store on the Beltline. When an officer approached, he saw what he believed to be burglary tools near Hagood.

Back up arrived, and officers began questioning Hagood. Things got heated, and a scuffle broke out. At one point, Hagood even tried to steal a police cruiser and flee! However, officers were able to get the situation under control, and took Hagood into custody.

He's being held on $6,000 bond in the Morgan County Jail, charged with several crimes including attempted theft, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest.
