DAYTONA BEACH, FL – A Deland man who was shot by police after he stole a police car in 2002 has been sentenced to 22 years in prison, according to court records.

Anthony N. Fisher accepted a plea to grand theft, robbery, carjacking, fleeing and attempted to elude and other charges and was sentenced to state prison Wednesday before Circuit Judge Joseph Will, prosecutors said.

Fisher, 41, was shot in the arm by Daytona Beach police Sgt. William Walden on Nov. 22, 2002 after he jumped in a police car and drove at officers. The officers were trying to talk to Fisher about a hit-and-run case involving a stolen Cadillac.

After he was shot, Fisher led police on a high-speed chase in the stolen police car.
