A woman who was stopped for speeding fled in a Dallas County Sheriff's Department squad car Friday afternoon after being placed under arrest.

A department spokesman said the suspect, identified as Amanda Juarez, had been observed traveling 85 mph in a 60 mph zone on LBJ Freeway near Plano Road at around 12:30 p.m.

Juarez allegedly told deputies that she had a warrant out for her arrest. She was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of an squad car.

Juarez, 28, said she was asthmatic and needed an inhaler that was in her vehicle. When deputies went to get it, she somehow got her cuffed hands in front of her, hopped into the front seat, and took off—with lights and siren blaring.

The dark blue squad car was found a time later in the 3600 block of Miller Road in Garland, but Juarez had disappeared.

Lewisville police said Juarez was wanted on traffic warrants for a previous speeding violation. The Dallas County Sheriff's office said she had previously been arrested on drug, prostitution and escape charges.
