A Colorado Springs police car was stolen from an officer's home early
Thursday morning and the suspected thief drove it back, where he wrestled with
the officer before being arrested.
The incident happened at about 6 a.m. Thursday in the Patty Jewett area of the
city, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.
Police said officer Ruben Crews reported his patrol car, containing some
gear, was stolen from outside his home.
Crews and his wife went out looking for the car and when they returned home, it
was parked in the driveway and a window into the home was broken.
Outside the home Crews encountered a man wearing his police jacket, the blotter
said.
Crews showed his badge and identified himself and a "struggle ensued."
The suspect was subdued and arrested.
Police identify the man as 45-year-old Michael Reeder.
Reeder was taken to Memorial Hospital, treated for a head injury and taken to
jail.
Crews suffered a hand injury in the scuffle.
Police did not disclose a motive in the incident.
