Stolen Squad Car Strikes Light Pole

A Glendale Heights man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly took his Father’s Cook County Sheriff’s department squad car and crashed into a light pole, said a department spokeswoman.
The man, 19, took the car while his Father was asleep at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, said sheriff’s police spokeswoman Penny Mateck.
A short time later, the man, whom Mateck did not identify, crashed the car at the intersection of North Avenue and Gary Avenue in Carol Stream. The man wasn’t injured, Mateck said.
The man left the scene of the accident but was arrested Sunday by Carol Stream police.
