What started as an attempted home invasion turned into high speed police chase
that involved law enforcement in three counties Wednesday night.
The Stone county sheriff says the suspect tried to break into a home near the
intersection of Highways 248 and 13.
A short time later the suspect was arrested at the Lost Tree Apartments near
Highways 'F' and 65 just north of Branson.
The suspect got behind the wheel in handcuffs and took off... narrowly
missing deputies.
Even with a flat tire the chase topped speeds of 100 miles per hour.
Just south of Ozark, the highway patrol stopped the vehicle with spike strips.
That's when the guy ran.
He was tasered and arrested on the spot.

Stone County deputies responded to a residence on Hwy 248 East of Hwy 13 earlier
today in reference to an attempted home evasion. The resident and her daughter
were able to obtain a vehicle description and license number as the white van
left their residence.
This vehicle was later located at the Lost Tree Apartments in the area of
Highway F and Highway 65 in Taney County, just North of Branson.
Detectives from Stone County and Deputies from Taney County located one male
subject at the apartments that was believed involved in the earlier attempted
home invasion. This subject was handcuffed and placed in the front seat of the
detective’s Ford Explorer while detectives continued their interview of other
subjects at the location.
At approximately 6:15 pm, detectives observed the suspect climbing from the
passenger’s seat to the driver’s seat and putting the Explorer into gear. The
suspect struck another vehicle parked in the parking lot of the apartments, then
drove toward deputies who were trying to get to him before he could leave.
After the suspect struck one vehicle, the right rear tire of the Explorer
blew out, but the suspect continued driving out of the apartment complex onto
Highway 65 Northbound.
Units from Taney County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol began a pursuit of
the vehicle. It traveled at speeds of near 100 miles per hour as it continued
North on Highway 65. As it entered Christian County, the Highway Patrol was able
to deploy “Stop Sticks”, which caused the right front tire to deflate. The
vehicle continued to approximately one mile South of Ozark, Mo, where the
suspect got out of the vehicle and attempted to run. The suspect was taken into
custody after a “Taser” was deployed.
The suspect, a white, male, age 36, from Galena, is currently in the Stone
County Jail. The Stone County Prosecutor will determine what charges will be
filed on the suspect tomorrow.
The home invasion is currently still under investigation and another suspect is
being sought.
