A 16-year-old girl stole a Blackman Township police car, cursed a dispatcher and taunted police on the car police radio, then destroyed two patrol cars.
The drama unfolded early Monday morning when a township officer responded to a domestic dispute at the Ashton Ridge housing complex. The teen fled on foot, the officer pursued, and the girl circled back to an untended cop car and drove away, authorities said.
"I believe someone may have taken it," an officer reported to a Jackson County dispatcher at 12:28 a.m. when he could not find his car.
The dispatch tape, made available through the Freedom of Information Act, also recorded the girl taunting the officer for "leaving his car unlocked," and telling a female dispatcher, "Shut up, (expletitive)! Shut the (expletive) up!"
Blackman Public Safety Director Mike Jester called it "an unfortunate incident" but one that ended without injuries.
