Police search for military police officer's stolen car

AURORA - Police were searching Monday for a stolen car
with decals that allow it access to Buckley Air Force Base.

The car apparently was stolen Sunday from the home of a
military police officer while he was out at town, Arapahoe
County sheriff's spokesman Dave Roche said.

"The person who was house-sitting for him left (the car) in the
garage with the door open and the keys inside," Roche said.

Guards at the base's security checkpoints have been warned,
though officials said the vehicle wouldn't be let through unless
the occupants had valid military IDs.

"It doesn't look like he was targeted," Roche said of the theft.
"It was just a crime of opportunity."
