(Allegan County, December 30, 2003, 7:00 a.m.) Police say a shoplifting suspect who stole a squad car in Allegan County is still on the loose.

A pick-up truck carrying two people was pulled over at U.S. 131 and B Avenue late last night.

An officer put the woman in the back seat of the Allegan County Sheriff's Department squad car, but she managed to get into the front seat, and drive off when the officer wasn't looking.

A short time later, the stolen car turned up at the U.S. 131 business loop and Douglas Avenue intersection in Kalamazoo County.

Nothing was believed to be stolen from the police cruiser.

Search teams used dogs to look for the suspect but lost the suspect's scent after 150 yards.

Police say the woman is in her early 20s and has shoulder-length red hair.
